“Science Fiction is the improbable made possible; Fantasy is the impossible made probable.” – Rod Serling

The above quote was coined by Serling, an American TV producer and screenwriter, who is best known to me as the creator of  ‘The Twilight Zone’ – and for writing the original screenplay for ‘Planet of the Apes’.

Many people who are not fans of either genre have difficulty in separating the two, like the use of imagination catches all in its web of creative lies, yet as an avid reader of both, it really bothers me that the obviously different are both lumped together.

This quote is a really simple yet surprisingly efficient way of describing the difference between the genres, whilst at the same time explaining, perhaps, the attraction of them both.
